The purpose of this document is to describe the guidelines for use of the MVARA
Club call sign.
The club’s board will define and modify the guidelines for use of the club call
sign.
Any MVARA club member in good standing has automatic permission to operate
using the club call for public service or emergency activities. This is with the
stipulation the communications is provided by the MVARA and not some other
agency. The station using the club call will be the net control or central point of
control for the event.
The board may approve use of the club call by a member for the purpose of
working a contest, working DX or chasing an award. Each contest event must be
separately approved by the board.
Any member may be granted long term use of the club call for the purpose of
chasing DX or other awards. This will be allowed when it is approved by a
majority of the membership at a regular meeting.
Any ham using the club call must do so within his or her privileges granted per
the class of ham radio license they hold, issued by the FCC. The exception of
course is when there is a higher class license holder present as the control
operator.
The club call sign trustee has full veto rights over the board’s decision or the
club’s decision regarding the use of the club call. This includes modifications to
this document. The club call sign trustee may also reverse a decision made by
the board or the club regarding use of the club call sign if the trustee feels the
club’s call sign is being misused.
