Please joins us for Winter Field Day. We will be operating from the Frank Zizzo Radio Room this year. The radio room will be open to public viewing during museum hours and club members will be able to operate overnight if they choose to stay. We have decided to use the museum callsign, AF6MF because we will be indoors for the entire event. If someone want to organize an offsite outdoor event, then they can use the AB6MV callsign with permission from the club.

Join us for POTA
Parks on The Air Call-in frequency is 146.550 Simplex Saturday, Sept 21st @ 9am - 3pm Let's get together and activate Lake Perris SRA for Parks on the Air (POTA) under the club callsign. We will show beginners the ropes on activating and hunting for POTA credit. We will have seasoned veterans showing off their POTA setups and working the pileups. There are charcoal BBQs we can access. Just bring some briquets and your favorite food to grill, maybe a cold side dish to share and non-acholic beverages. Join us for a Fox Hunt

Saturday October 19th @ 9am - 11am
MVARA will host a Spring Fox Hunt or T-hunt as some may call it. Dirk N6UNH will be the Fox and will be hiding somewhere in the Moreno Valley city limits. The location will be easily accessible by car or on foot. The fox transmission will repeat every three minutes on the T-hunt simplex frequency of 146.565 starting at 9:00am and finishing up at 11am. The location of the fox will be revealed after 11am.

Please keep the T-hunt frequency clear of all traffic so the fox can beacon.

Annual Armed Forces Day
Crossband Test The Department of Defense will host this year’s Armed Forces Day (AFD) Crossband Test, scheduled for May 11, 2024. This annual event is open to all licensed amateur radio operators and will not impact any public or private communications. For more than 50 years, military and amateur stations have taken part in this event, which is an interoperability exercise between hobbyist and government radio stations.

The event will run on June 22 - 23, and it will be one-part contest, one-part emergency communications exercise, and one-part open house -- and a great time. The theme encourages radio amateurs to take advantage of the peak of Solar Cycle 25, which we are nearing. Activity this year is likely to be extremely high thanks to favorable solar conditions.
