Tour d’ Big Bear (100-mile bicycle event)
Tour d’ Big Bear (100-mile bicycle event)
The weather was stunning beautiful, in the 70’s, slight breeze. We three were part of 35 other ham operators all over and around Big Bear for the 100 mile loop that included 25, 50, and 75 mile section loops, for all levels. There were a few minimal injuries, a few flat tires, broken rims, broken chains or derailleurs, and one elderly man needed paramedics for chest pains and one other person with a broken collar bone. Communication was great! My QYT radio hooked up to my friend Jims bioenno, and Bob SHT ‘s old mag mount ( ! ) was the primary radio that we used at Jenks Lake station for the day! Fun!
